It is now september 2005: Energie prises are still going up and I believe it is time to build some solar collectors again. This for domestic hot water en later maybe for heating the house. I need an aluminium plate with copper pipes in it, therefor a need a metal press to press a groove in an aluminium plate. In that grooves fits the copper pipes, so I can transport heat from the sun to a water reservoir. We wil see how far we get this time ......... |

Modification of the metal press. |
|
A friend of mine, Werner, say's.... I think I have
something. It was a metal press with a weight of 300 kg. |
I made some modification in
my garage to plase the metal press. |
Now cleaning and testing. |
|
After cleaning it looked fine. |

Beautifull |
The back site. An air cylinder of 20 cm diameter.
With 8 bar/cm2 air pressure I have 2512 kg and with the mecanical reduction
I get 5024 kg! So watch out for your fingers! |
Drilling holes for the new matrix. |
|
The aluminium plate will be squeezed with a rod
between two metal laths. |
Testing. |
First test..... |
Works for iron but not for aluminium. The copper tubes
fit exatct in the groof, for aluminium the groof is too big. |
Like this, now I can adjust the two metal laths for the exact distance. I have sharped the metal laths a little so the aluminium fits better arround the copper pipes. | When pressing the aluminium plates, the groove wasn't always extact in the middle of the plates. For this reason I drilled two little holes in the rod and srewed in two little screws. Now when pressing the groove in the aluminium the 2 screws wil perforate the aluminium plate and hold the aluminium plate on his place! |
After a few tests a could stamp aluminium.of 0.5 mm and the copper
tube fits perfect in the groove. |
